This webpage has been inactive for the past few years, but I’m hoping to update it more frequently–and get back into a writing habit–now that summer is nearly here. I’m starting a new research project this summer, and I’ve managed to secure enough release time in the coming academic year that I’ll be able to sustain it as the school year progresses.

In the meantime, I’ve been working on updating and developing the site for the Central Coast Queer Archive. It looks a lot better than it did: cleaner, more professional, and easier to navigate. I have hopes and some vague plans to reactivate that project in the coming year, as well, but it might have to wait until I can rope some students into it again. In the meantime, the California Humanities featured the project as a part of its Pride Month content.

Also, another non-academic side project for the summer: it looks like I’ll have a lot of rpg time in the coming months, and so I expect I’ll be thinking and writing about that as well. I’ve become very interested in thinking through the unique ways that rpgs tell stories that other genres and forms don’t, and the most obvious answer to that is mix of improvisational collaboration and randomness built into the system, but I need to think more about that. Anyway, that’s all for now. More soon.
